LEAF 2022

Local Environmental Awareness Fair
The Annual Local Environmental Awareness Fair (L.E.A.F.) returned for its 4th year at the Boston Town Park Lions Shelter on Saturday, September 10th, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Spearheaded by the Town of Boston Conservation Advisory Council with support from Friends of the CAC, L.E.A.F. exists to educate the greater community on conservation, wildlife, and the environment. It’s a great opportunity for local organizations to highlight the many people, organizations, and features of our local environment that make our community a wonderful place to live!  In 2022, we were joined by a total of 14 organizations: Beaver Meadow Audubon Center, Buckhill Rabbitry, Cornell Cooperative Extension - Erie County, Erie County Department of Environment and Planning, Earth Spirit, Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge/US Fish and Wildlife Service, KCY Reptiles, Sierra Club - Niagara Group, Trinity Pour, Native Earth Nursery, Wild Spirit Education, Spencer's Encounters, Boy Scout Troop 491 , and the Boston Democratic Social Club. These organizations provided educational opportunities related to wildlife conservation, the Healthy Lawns program, keeping show rabbits, energy-smart practices, soil pH testing, Spotted Lanternfly awareness, native plants, raptor rehabilitation, and more! The “Beauty of Boston” Photo Contest returned this year with the theme of “Nature’s Colors”. Twelve residents submitted entries and the public voted for their favorite during the event. The top three winners will receive gift certificates to the Boston Hill Nursery. We estimate more than 150 people participated in the event.
A visit with local organizations to learn more about our natural resources, wildlife, and fun in the outdoors. A great event for the whole family!
