The Town of Boston works with Waste Management Corporation for trash and recycling. You can contact them at 496-5000 on Monday thru Friday between 9:00am and 4:30pm. However, to learn your "pickup day", contact Our Town Clerk at 941-6113 extension 6. Click or tap to see the recycling guidelines.
Please put your trash and recycles at the roadside by 6:00AM on your scheduled collection day. Please don't put it out more than 24 hours early. On holidays that fall on a weekday (Monday thru Friday), collection will be one day later. The holidays that "count" are: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Up to five (5) 30-gallon/70 lbs. trash items can be placed per family. If your trash isn't in a bag or can, tie it in a bundle no longer than 4 feet long. You can put out one (1) big item (like an appliance or furniture) per week. Appliances with refrigerants (like freezers, refrigerators, or air conditioners) won't be picked up unless you can certify the refrigerant has been removed (click or tap here for more info). Big items may be picked up the next day. Cars can be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation by calling them at 1-855-239-9474 or visiting http://rochester-buffalo.wheelsforwishes.org and they will come and get your donation, free of charge.
Recycling bins stay with the residence and belong to the recycle collector (Waste Management). New homes will get a new bin from the recycle collector. Please call the Town Clerk at 941-6113 extension 6 if your bin gets stolen, lost or destroyed. Click or tap to see general recycling information and the Recycling Rewards Program.
Electronics recycling is now an option! The trash collector and the Town Hall won't pick up or accept electronics. You can recycle electronics by participating in the At Your Door service (below) or at Best Buy stores. Click or tap to read New York State law regarding electronics recycling.
The Town of Boston will pick up brush and leaves throughout town starting on April 1, May 1, September 1, and October 1. You can also start composting which is an easy, economical and efficient way to recycle because it reuses yard waste and enriches the soil. Spring is perfect time to start a backyard compost area!
